So out we trudged out today into the heat so common for summer in northern Virginia to capture our image for the week, featuring “sky”. Last week we were spoiled with several days of 80 degrees and low humidity – it was actually cool enough at night to wear a light jacket! This week though, summer came through with vigor – averaging in the mid-90’s all week long.
And the skies on these hot days with scattered thunderstorms can be quite dramatic! Unfortunately this week, Sydney and I didn’t have a lot of free time to go out tromping around in search of skies like the one that her “dad” captured at nearby Burke Lake. He’s developed quite an eye for gorgeous sunset images:
So tonight, the night before my 52 Project post is due, Syd and I walked down to the neighborhood dog park. Sydney’s best buddies – the bearded collies Bailey and Mo – have been vacationing in North Carolina this past week so she’s had to make do with Mom throwing the ball or frisbee. There’s been no Bailey to run the dog autobahn – the path they’ve carved out for doing speedway races around the yard. Tonight, Syd stood totally still in the yard, her blue rubber ball at her feet, staring up at the sky as the sun was starting to set, creating a lovely golden glow. She’s anxious for her dog buddies to come home….
