52 Project – Week 52 – “The Sign Says”

Many, if not all of us, in the Beautiful Beasties Network volunteer our time to help photograph the beautiful dogs and cats at the local shelter and rescue groups. Having a good quality image showing their beautiful features helps these lost souls to find homes. One of the most heart-warming events is when they are adopted into their forever home and the new pet parent telling us: “I saw their picture on the Internet and that face just spoke to me….”

I had the privilege this week to photograph Winter – who is being fostered by our neighbors Rick and Jami – who lovingly open their homes and hearts to those pups who need a bit more training and attention than the average shelter dog. Winter is a young hound mix with boundless energy and overwhelming enthusiasm to greet everyone she meets. She will be available for adoption this coming weekend at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. She has a wide variety of expressions on her beautiful face – depending on whether she’s going out for a walk, or staring intently at the squirrels out the window, or ME as I try to get her to look at that big black eye of a lens!

Thanks also to Brown Leopard Designs who created the lovely text overlay “signs” for the rescue/shelter pet photography community!
